01

Solar Panel Recycling

6 Questions
Q1 Can solar panels be recycled now? What materials can be recovered? +

Yes. RePV Tech processes end-of-life crystalline silicon (c-Si) solar modules using our proprietary AI-automated equipment for efficient disassembly and sorting, recovering three high-value materials:

Silver (Ag): Electrode paste with high market value
Glass: High-purity separation, processed into premium building materials such as kitchen countertops, islands, and bathroom tiles
Silicon wafers (Si): Core solar cell material, applicable in recycled material applications

Our technical target is a 99% material recovery rate, with 40–60% CO₂ emission reduction benefits.

Q2 Can we receive payment for recycled panels? Is a small quantity acceptable? +

Whether a buyback payment is available depends on the total volume submitted. Only when the volume reaches a sufficient scale can we assess material value and calculate buyback pricing.

Small quantities: Typically handled on a "processing fee" basis — the owner pays the processing cost and RePV handles compliant recycling.

Large quantities: A buyback pricing arrangement can be negotiated; the specific amount depends on module condition, silver content, and market rates.

If you are unsure whether your site's decommissioned volume qualifies, contact us first for an assessment — we can help you estimate.

Q3 What are the regulatory risks of improperly disposing of end-of-life solar panels? +

Solar modules contain hazardous substances including heavy metals such as lead. Improper disposal may result in penalties and environmental liability under Taiwan's Waste Disposal Act.

Regulations on solar panel disposal in Taiwan and major markets (such as the EU WEEE Directive and Japan's relevant laws) continue to be updated. We recommend that operators proactively understand the latest local requirements and use compliant channels for disposal.

RePV Tech can assist operators in processing decommissioned modules through compliant channels and, where needed, coordinate qualified disposal and processing partners. Contact us to learn more.
Q4 What is the process for entrusting panels for recycling? +

The basic process is as follows:

1. Initial Consultation: Contact RePV and provide basic information such as module brand, model, quantity, and location

2. Proposal Assessment: We evaluate your needs and coordinate suitable recycling partners and processing methods

3. Arrangement: RePV coordinates to confirm the complete process for waste removal, transport, and back-end recycling

4. Recycling Processing: Automated disassembly and sorting through compliant channels for high-purity material recovery

5. Results Report: A material recovery results report is provided

As waste disposal regulations and processes vary by region, we will coordinate the most suitable collaboration method based on your specific situation. Please contact us to discuss.

Q5 Where do the recovered materials go? What downstream applications exist? +

The high-purity recycled materials produced by RePV can enter a variety of high-value downstream applications:

Recycled silver: Electronics industry, conductive paste, jewelry manufacturing
Recycled glass: Processed into premium interior building materials including kitchen cooktops, island countertops, and bathroom tiles — combining aesthetic value with circular economy benefits
Recycled silicon wafers: Semiconductor raw materials, new solar cell manufacturing

We are committed to directing each recycled material to its highest-value application, realizing the true concept of "Urban Mining" rather than downgrading.

Q6 How does RePV's recycling solution differ from conventional waste processors? +

Conventional waste processors typically handle solar panels through "disposal or low-grade shredding," which cannot effectively separate materials — resulting in loss of resource value and high environmental risk.

RePV's key differentiators:

Full-cycle technology: AI-automated equipment achieves high-purity separation of silver, glass, and silicon wafers — not mixed crushing

Low-carbon processing: Minimal energy consumption design reduces CO₂ by 40–60% vs. conventional methods

Material offtake capability: RePV provides complete downstream recycled material sales channels — not just waste disposal

Flexible intake options: RePV does not require clients to provide complete modules; we can flexibly accommodate clients' existing processing capabilities

Particularly suitable for operators who have already completed de-framing and de-glazing but lack the back-end exhaust treatment capacity — RePV can directly accept whole cellsheets with backsheets and refine high-value materials such as silver, without requiring clients to handle back-end processes.

EPC & Disassemble Modules

4 Questions
Q7 How do easy-disassembly modules differ from conventional ones? Does power generation efficiency suffer? +

RePV EVA easy-disassembly modules use a special encapsulation technology that enables efficient disassembly and separation at the end of the module's useful life, significantly improving material recovery purity.

In terms of power generation efficiency, easy-disassembly modules have been optimized for performance during design. The efficiency difference from conventional modules of the same specification is minimal and does not affect normal operation.

The key difference lies at the "end of lifecycle": conventional modules are difficult to recycle with high purity upon retirement, whereas easy-disassembly modules can be fully recycled upon retirement — truly realizing cradle-to-cradle circular design.

Q8 Are easy-disassembly modules certified? How is reliability verified? +

RePV EVA easy-disassembly modules have passed relevant testing and certifications, including:

TÜV Certification: Module quality and safety verification

Salt Spray Corrosion Test: Solar PV module salt spray corrosion test IEC 61701 Test Method 8, conducted by ITRI Measurement Center

Additionally, easy-disassembly modules are backed by real-world case studies, including the Porrima zero-carbon vessel project — where EPC installation was completed on the complex curved hull of a ship, verifying module reliability and future recyclability in high-demand environments.

Q9 Can I specify easy-disassembly modules for my project? Are there additional costs? +

Yes. RePV's EPC services support clients in specifying RePV EVA easy-disassembly modules during the planning phase, so that sites are prepared for future decommissioning and recycling from the moment of installation.

In terms of cost, easy-disassembly modules carry a certain premium over conventional modules. However, considering the higher material recovery value at end-of-life and potential regulatory compliance advantages, the total lifecycle cost is often more competitive.

We recommend discussing with us early in the EPC planning stage so that easy-disassembly modules can be integrated into the optimized system design.
Q10 What does the EPC service cover? Which regions are supported? +

RePV's EPC services cover the full turnkey process of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction for solar energy systems — from conventional rooftop projects to special structures (such as vessels and complex curved surfaces).

Current service regions: Taiwan, Japan, Australia, Europe

Services include: System design, module procurement and selection, construction and installation, commissioning testing, long-term O&M planning
